Frequently Asked Questions

Is this expensive?

Bespoke History works with a wide range of clients, many of whom had the very same question when they first discovered one of our books. While we are certainly not a low cost option, we create custom packages to fit the needs of our prospective customers. Every Bespoke History project is unique, because every family or organization has individual goals and limitations for preserving and celebrating their history. We have done projects at price points under $5k, and as high as $85k. We'll make every effort to create a plan to deliver a final product that will exceed your expectations, while staying within your desired cost parameters.

How long does it take to produce a Bespoke History book?

Bespoke History projects can take anywhere from two months to two years. The average time for a comprehensive family history or corporate history book project is 18 months. We will work with you from the initial consultation to create a project timeline, and we will stick to that timeline, providing periodic, detailed reports of our progress. Some Bespoke History projects are more narrowly-focused and require less time for research, and in these cases we have produced impressive results in just a few months.

How much work is required of me?

By nature, Bespoke History projects are collaborative endeavors between us and the client. We make every effort to make the process easy, and enjoyable. We will require only as much time as you are able to give toward the project, and take this into account when drafting a book plan. Most of what we require is access to the places where you store your old papers, photos, and miscellany. We'll do the digging, or you can help, it's your choice. We may also need to interview you, and ask for your help to facilitate access to whomever else we want to interview as part of the book plan. Read our testimonials section to get a sense of how our clients felt about working with us.

What about privacy?

Winston Churchill once said, "History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it." We will write the story that you wish to record, and nothing more. We will happily draft and sign a standard non-disclosure agreement with you prior to starting your project. Our clients receive frequent proofs and drafts of all content, and they approve every aspect of the text and layout before it is completed. We are not in the business of writing an expose, just telling your story the way you want it to be told.
